The Heeler family is hosting a barbecue, and Bandit and Bluey are setting up their respective grills – a real one for Bandit and a pretend one for Bluey. As the gathering gets underway, Bandit regales his brother Stripe with a story about a dog while they enjoy a drink and cook sausages. Nearby, their wives Chilli and Trixie chat about shampoo. Over at the kids’ play area, Bluey is busy cooking pretend sausages for her cousins Muffin and Socks, while Bingo brings over her’relaxing chair’ to take a break after setting the table.
Chilli brings out a salad, which inspires Muffin and Socks to request their own salad. Bandit’s hat is repurposed as a bowl, but the kids want more – specifically, a green capsicum salad. Bingo takes on the task, trying out various plants from Chilli’s garden. After discarding one with a bug that hits Bandit in the face, causing him to spill his drink, Bingo adds some green leaves to the bowl. Bluey requests yellow capsicum, so Bingo drags a bench over to reach a hanging pot of flowers, but Chilli intervenes due to safety concerns. Instead, a tennis ball is thrown at the flowers, allowing some petals to fall, but the ball rebounds and knocks over Bandit’s can once again. Muffin then asks for red capsicum, so Bingo bats down some blossoms from the poinciana tree, knocking over Bandit’s drink with a flying seed pod.
After all the commotion, Bingo tries to relax in her chair again, but the kids want salad dressing. Bingo borrows Bandit’s new drink, a bottle of water, and heads off to make some mud. However, she loses control of the hose, squirting Uncle Stripe in the face before managing to turn it off. She delivers a bottle of muddy-water salad dressing to the table, and Chilli makes her clean up the muddy footprints on the deck. Finally, Bingo gets to relax in her chair until Bandit announces that the real sausages are ready. At the lunch table, amidst the excitement over the sausages, Bingo reminds everyone to appreciate the salads too. The family thanks Chilli for her hard work, and Chilli thanks Bingo for her thoughtful reminder.
