Bluey - Shops

Bluey and her friends are eager to play 'Shops,' but they struggle to begin! Bluey's constant questions about the rules and her frequent changes to characters might keep them at this all day.

In a forest grove, Bluey, Chloe, Honey, and Mackenzie set up a game of imaginary “shops”. Mackenzie reminds Bluey to make decisions quickly, and they finalize the shop setup. The till is in place, and Mackenzie installs the door and doorbell. As Mackenzie starts his lines, Bluey interrupts to assign roles. She decides to be the shopkeeper, with Chloe as her assistant, who takes charge when the shopkeeper is ill. Honey and Mackenzie will be customers, with Honey playing a kitten and Mackenzie her owner.

However, the game is delayed as Bluey realizes she hasn’t given the shop a purpose yet. They decide it will be a store selling things for kittens, but then they need stock. Bluey and Chloe gather lilly-pillies to use as kitten treats. Mackenzie grows impatient, but they still need to sort out the currency and a kitten birthday cake. Chloe uses a rock as the cake, and Mackenzie is asked to be sad. They also remember that kittens can’t talk, so they need to meow. Mackenzie looks confused as the game preparations continue. Just as they’re about to start, Bluey wants to be the kitten, which leads to a role-swapping discussion. Chloe doesn’t want Honey as the shopkeeper, and Bluey offers to be the assistant. However, Honey only agrees if she can be the kitten’s owner, but Mackenzie already has that role.

The role-swapping continues until Bluey arranges a new agreement: Chloe is the assistant to shopkeeper Mackenzie. However, Chloe points out that the assistant doesn’t “doot”, and Mackenzie has had enough. He storms off, frustrated. Bluey calls out to him, and they come to an agreement. Mackenzie promises to wait until Bluey is ready to start. With the roles still not finalized, Rusty arrives and is deemed the assistant. The final roles are set: Chloe is the shopkeeper, Mackenzie the customer, Honey the cat, and Rusty the assistant. Bluey will be Mackenzie’s other cat. The game begins, and Mackenzie enters the shop to buy a lead. The kids work together, and the game is a success. Finally, Bluey suggests a new game, “bus drivers”, and the kids leave the area together.

And it has a bell when you walk through it.

Stop, hang on. We have to decide who to be.

Bluey, you promised we wouldn't take long deciding stuff.

We can't start if we don't know who we all are.

I'll be the shopkeeper.

Aw, I wanted to be the shopkeeper.

Chloe, you can be the assistant.

They hand stuff to the shopkeeper.

Does the assistant get to go "doot"?

Um, yes, but only when the shopkeeper is sick

and has to stay home.

Oh. Okay.

Are you feeling sick at all?

No, I'm fine.

I'll be a customer, too.

Yes, you and Mackenzie are customers.

Hooray! Okay, let's go.

Da-ding! Hello!

Wait!

What is it now?

Honey, why don't you be a kitten?

Good idea. Meow! Meow! Meow!

I'll be your owner.

Good kitty!

-Meow! -Okay, let's start!

A store that sells kittens.

-But I've already got a kitten. -Oh, yeah.

[all] Yeah!

Wait! Assistant, help me find things

so we can sell for kittens!

We won't be long!

What do kittens like?

Um, they like lilly-pillys.

Oh, yeah.

These can be the kitten treats.

They're a bit too round.

Some are a bit bumpy.

-Oh, yeah. -Hurry up!

Mackenzie, you're always in such a hurry.

We can't play shop if we don't have anything to sell.

Bluey, are you feeling sick yet?

and the bumpy ones are kitten treats?

Okay, let's get going.

Da-ding! Hello!

but I'm going to say, "Sorry, we've run out."

And then you have to be sad.

Bluey, I want it to be that we do have a kitten birthday cake.
