The Heeler, Border-Collie, Dalmatian, and Beagle families gather at the park for a barbecue. While the parents chat and relax, Bluey and Mackenzie sneak around, collecting “samples” of hair from the adults. They sneak back to their secret lair under a nearby tree, passing by guards Chloe and Honey. The hair samples are given to Bingo, who’s in charge of collecting “potion-grass” for the adult-controlling potion. She’s insisted on being called Sparkleshot, adding a touch of excitement to the mission.
As the spies head out to collect more samples, Bingo suddenly needs to take a break to use the restroom. Bluey tells her she can’t play with them if she doesn’t do her job, and when Bingo doesn’t return, Bluey announces that someone else will have to get the potion-grass. Neither Honey nor Chloe wants to take on the task, so Mackenzie suggests using an old chip packet instead. This leads to a disagreement over who should take on which role, and Bluey becomes stressed as the game isn’t going as planned. She’s also annoyed that she’s now been assigned to be a guard.
The spell is eventually completed, and Mackenzie tries to use it to make Chilli dance. However, it’s Daisy who ends up dancing, causing a squabble over the potion controllers. Bluey runs to find her dad, Bandit, and complains to him about the chaos. Bandit tries to explain the concept of a dog-pack hierarchy using a rock allegory, but Bluey doesn’t understand. He simply tells her to do her best. Bluey then asks Bingo to rejoin the game, and the spy team cheers at her return. Bluey tasks them with completing their missions so the potion can be finished. After some more squabbling, they agree that it’s Bingo’s turn to control the potion. With Bingo in charge, the parents are controlled into acting crazy, and in the chaos, the barbecue catches on fire, leading to a mayhem and a change in dinner plans – pizza instead of barbecue.
