In the dining room, Bandit decides to teach Bluey how to play Chess, but she thinks it’s called “Chest” and assumes it’s similar to Checkers. Bandit explains that it’s a bit harder, and Chilli thinks it might be too old for Bluey. When Bandit asks Bluey’s age, she teases him about not knowing his own daughter’s age, and then tells him she’s 6, almost 7. Bandit thinks she’s old enough to learn, and Chilli asks why he wants to teach her. Bandit says it’s because smart people play Chess. Bingo arrives and asks to play, but Bandit thinks she might be too young. Bluey offers to let Bingo help her, which makes Chilli smile.
Bandit sets up the board, and Bingo asks where the dice are, which makes Bandit make a “please” face. As they start to play, Bandit explains the pieces, including the Pawns, which the girls call “Little ball guys” or “Prawns”. The girls get confused, so Bandit shows them the next piece. However, they’ve added their own figurines, Charlevol and Bonny Bom Bom, which Bandit removes. The girls get excited when they see the Knight, which they call “Horsey”. Bandit tries to teach them the names of the pieces, but the girls insist on using their own names, like “Gallahop” and “Daughter of Gallahop”. Chilli jokes that Bandit said smart people play Chess, and Bandit lets the girls use their own names.
As the game begins, Bandit moves his Pawn, and Bluey takes her turn. Bingo wants her own team, but Bandit says it’s only the White team and the Black team. Bluey decides to divide her team in half so Bingo can play too. Bandit tries to explain that this isn’t how the game works, but Chilli tells him to let it go. The girls get excited when they see the Queen and King, which they call “Crown Lady” and “Wedding Cake Head”. Bandit tries to explain the rules, but the girls make their own decisions, like swapping the King and Queen. Chilli teases Bandit about the King being the most important piece, and Bandit gets distracted when he notices Bingo is playing with her Queen at his feet.
As the game continues, Bluey moves her Pawn, but makes a mistake. Bingo declares it’s her turn and moves her Knight and a Pawn, but Bandit explains that she can’t move two pieces at once. Bingo says she did it so her pieces can visit each other. Bandit continues the game and eliminates one of the Knights. Bluey thinks it will come back, but Bandit says it’s dead. Chilli reassures Bingo that it’s just a game. Bluey starts to play aggressively, but Bandit takes out her Pawns. Bluey moves her Queen to the other end of the board, taking out Bandit’s Queen, but he takes hers out too.
In the end, Chilli shows Bluey how to beat Bandit in four moves, using the bishop, rook, and pawn to checkmate him. As they finish the game, Chilli talks to the kids about how they’ll grow up and become strong, just like the pieces on the board.
