Mum is driving Bluey to school when Dad calls with some unexpected news – he has to take a plane trip. This means Mum will have to take Bingo to gymnastics, and Bluey will miss her play date with Honey. Chilli apologizes to Bluey, who is understandably upset about the last-minute change. When they arrive at school, Bluey’s attention is caught by a tree stump with a branch that looks like a lever. She turns it into a helicopter, inspired by one she saw on the way to school.
Winton joins Bluey for a flight, and at first, Bluey wants to be in charge of the game. She dictates the rules, but things go smoothly as she takes several of her friends on “flights”. She transports Jack and Rusty, who are pretending to be injured, out of a battlefield, but initially refuses to let a “rocket” explode the copter. When Indy and the Terriers want to join in, with the Terriers playing kangaroos that Indy is trying to rescue, Bluey says her helicopter can’t carry them. Indy suggests pretending that she’s flying a plane instead, but Bluey resists at first.
However, when she sees her friends looking disappointed, Bluey changes her mind and decides to go along with the new idea. She ends up enjoying the change and having fun with her friends. When Chilli picks her up from school and apologizes again for the missed play date, Bluey is happy and carefree. Despite feeling bad about the broken play date earlier, Bluey has realized that sometimes things don’t go as planned, and that’s okay. She’s had a great time at school and is content with how the day turned out.
