The episode begins with Bluey and Bingo creating Father’s Day cards for their dad, Bandit, while Chilli is on the back porch. Bingo announces she’ll make a “red love heart rainbow card” for Bandit, which Chilli likes. Just then, Bandit appears, but the others shoo him away to keep the surprise a secret. Chilli asks Bluey what she’ll draw, and Bluey says she wants to create “the perfect picture of me and Dad.” However, Bluey admits she’s not sure what “perfect” means, and Bingo tries to explain it’s something that’s really good.
Bluey decides her card will be so perfect that it’ll go straight on the fridge, but Chilli warns her that perfect is tough. After cutting out the paper, Bluey thinks about what to draw and decides to depict herself and her dad standing with their arms out. However, she remembers that a similar drawing she made earlier isn’t on the fridge. Bingo asks Bluey what she likes most about their dad, and Bluey says it’s when he does “It’s Dad!” This triggers a flashback of Bandit entering the kitchen and saying “It’s Dad!”, but only getting a slow clap from Chilli. Bandit then tries to get the family to cheer for him and starts tickling Bluey.
The finished drawing shows Bandit tickling Bluey, but Bluey isn’t convinced it’s perfect because it looks like she’s being thrown. This gives her the idea to draw herself being thrown instead. In another scene, Chilli is reading the story of the three pigs to Bluey and Bingo when Bandit interrupts, asking for their tickets. When he finds out Bluey doesn’t have a ticket, he throws her across the room into a beanbag. Bluey completes a new drawing called “No Ticket” and shows it to Chilli, who thinks Bandit will like it. However, Bluey is unsure because she’s not good at drawing couches, and the settee in the picture looks more like a chair.
Bluey then draws a picture of her dad playing “Chair” and shows it to Chilli, who is getting tired and impatient. Chilli says the chair looks like a chair, but Bingo points out that Bluey isn’t in the picture. Chilli reassures the girls that the picture doesn’t have to be perfect and that their dad will love anything they make. The girls start drawing squiggles and lines, but Chilli encourages them to put more care into it. Bluey asks if it has to be perfect, and Chilli says no, just do their best. The girls come up with the idea to draw a boomerang, which confuses Chilli.
In a flashback, Bandit is talking to Fido at a party when Bluey flies into him, saying she’s sick of the boomerang. Fido says he has plenty of boomerangs, and Bluey is thrown away. The conversation continues, and Chilli wants to keep her options open, but Bandit is unsure. When Bluey returns, the card is finished, and even Bingo agrees it represents a boomerang. However, Bluey isn’t convinced it’s perfect and doesn’t know what’s wrong with it.
Bluey sits on the steps, and Chilli tries to comfort her. Chilli asks if there’s something Bluey wants to say, and Bluey reminisces about another flashback. In the flashback, Chilli is doing the washing when Bingo shows her a picture she drew. Chilli says it’s perfect and will go straight on the fridge, but Bluey sees her own drawing being covered up and is shocked. Chilli apologizes and confesses that she’s not perfect herself, and being a parent is tough. Bluey adds that drawing is also tough.
Chilli has an idea and asks Bluey how many times she’s gotten hurt while playing with her dad. Bluey responds that it’s happened a lot, and Chilli asks what their dad always says when Bluey gets hurt. Bluey says “Don’t tell your mum.” Bandit appears, but Chilli gives him a look, clearly angry. Chilli continues, asking what else their dad always says. In three simultaneous flashbacks, Bandit says “It’s a good thing you’re tough” in different situations. Chilli tells Bluey that drawing is tough, but it’s a good thing Bluey’s tough. On Father’s Day, both girls’ cards are on the fridge, taking the place of a power bill, and Bandit simply says “Perfect!”
