The story starts at Glasshouse Primary School, where the students are busy making animals out of beeswax. Indy, a young and creative Afghan Hound girl, is trying to make a model horse, but her classmates think it looks like a cow. Bluey, Rusty, and Chloe all share their opinions, and Indy asks Winton for his thoughts. However, Winton is more interested in making a pair of spectacles and a mustache out of the beeswax. When Coco asks him why he can’t just be good, Winton simply says he isn’t.
Indy becomes upset and hides under a table, feeling like she’s not good at anything. Calypso tries to talk to her, but Indy is convinced that she’s not talented. The scene ends with Indy feeling defeated, but then the story takes a turn. It’s revealed that this is Indy’s story, and she doesn’t like how it’s going. She decides to start again, and this time, Winton is given a pair of muscles. The story begins anew, with Winton, now a muscly English Bulldog, trying to help Indy see that she is good at things. He tells her that she just needs to believe in herself, and Indy starts to open up. Winton offers to help her, and they set out to fix her horse model.
Indy and Winton head to the library to research and find a reference picture. They pick out a book called Old MacDonald Had a Farm and start to investigate. They compare Indy’s model to the pictures in the book and realize that it looks more like a cow than a horse. However, Winton is determined to help Indy prove that it’s a horse. He makes a brief “moo” sound, which gets him a stern look from Indy, but he persists. They decide to visit Major Tom, who has a large stature that they can use as a reference. By comparing Indy’s model to Major Tom, they realize that the neck is too short. With this new information, they return to the school and fix the model. Winton transforms into a Formula One car for Indy to drive, and they roll out to the outside plains. They use Major Tom as a reference and realize the neck is too short. With this new information, they return to the school and fix the model. Winton uses his strength to roll out the beeswax, and they add a new neck to the model. However, it starts to look like a giraffe, and Winton gets upset, feeling like he’s not good at anything. He has a rainbow-colored cry, and Indy sings a song to soothe him. They decide to give the model a new twist. They adjust the neck, and finally, it looks like a horse. Indy and Winton are overjoyed and share a hug, happy with their creation. They name the horse Major Tom, and the story ends on a happy note, with everyone living happily ever after. Major Tom adds that Old MacDonald did have a horse, but it was on holiday when they wrote the book.
