The morning after a New Year’s party at Trixie and Stripe’s, the parents are feeling worn out, but the kids are eager to play. Bluey and Bingo ask them to join in on a whale-watching game, where Bluey is the captain and Bingo is the passenger. Chilli and Bandit are recruited to play the whale and the boat, respectively. Despite their exhaustion, the parents agree to play along.
Bandit throws himself into the game, simulating rough seas by rocking back and forth, making snappy turtles with his hands, and creating tidal waves by sitting up. However, Chilli’s lack of enthusiasm starts to disappoint the kids. They try to feed her junk food, but even that can’t get her to jump like a whale. The kids are upset, and Chilli feels guilty. To make it up to them, she suggests watching a documentary about whales. As they watch, Chilli is touched by the caring nature of the whale mother, while the kids are excited to see the whale jumping on screen, commenting that it’s much jumpier than Chilli’s earlier attempt.
Inspired by the documentary, Chilli decides to give the kids a show. She turns off the TV and leaps from the couch in slow motion, landing on the “boat” with a flourish. The kids are thrilled and jump out of the “boat,” using their imaginations to row their way to a “desert island” – the couch. With their energy spent, the kids move on to a new game, no longer needing the whale and boat. As for the parents, they finally get some peace and quiet, with Chilli resting on Bandit’s tired back. Despite the chaos, it was all worth it in the end.
