The Heelers are in the midst of spring-cleaning a room that’s been left untouched for a long time. As they sort through the space, Chilli starts to get a little emotional. She explains to the family that this room used to be Bluey and Bingo’s nursery when they were babies. Now that they’ve moved into their own room, this one is empty. Bandit jokingly suggests getting rid of the cot, but Chilli has other plans – she wants to turn it into a spare room. Bluey, however, has other ideas and wants to move in. Chilli agrees, and Bandit starts to take out the cot, only to be told to bring Bluey’s bed into the room instead.
As the room starts to take shape, Bluey and Bingo decide to swap some of their belongings. They start by having a rug race to see who gets the watermelon rug – Bluey wins and gets to keep it. Then, they swap plushes – Bingo gets Gloria, a gift from Granddad, and Bluey gets Lampy. Gloria will sleep over at Bluey’s for the night. Bingo asks the big fella to move her bed to where Bluey’s was – a perfect spot to watch Malcolm. They also play a game of Asleep Awake before bedtime. As the night winds down, the girls are excited to sleep in their new rooms. Meanwhile, Chilli and Bandit are downstairs, but Chilli has to go back up to tend to the girls after they drop some books on the floor. The girls try to communicate with each other by passing messages, but Chilli tells them it’s too late for that. Bluey feels a bit down, thinking she doesn’t have everything she needs.
As the night comes to a close, Bingo sends goodnight messages to her friends Missy and Lila, and even one to Grandpa Bob, “wherever you are.” She then receives one last message. Downstairs, Chilli tells Bandit that he needs to move Bluey’s bed back to its original room the next morning. When he asks why, she explains that it’s not about the room, but about the special bond between Bluey and Bingo – their companionship is what makes them feel safe and sound at night.
