Bluey and Bingo are in the middle of a game, surrounded by a block city, when Chilli calls them over to the kitchen to discuss Bingo’s upcoming birthday cake. Bingo gets excited and trips over a block, but quickly recovers. Chilli shows her various cake designs, and Bingo’s eyes land on a duck cake that makes her tail wag. However, Chilli warns that it’s a tricky cake to make, and appoints Bandit as the baker. Before they head out to play mini-hockey, Chilli reminds Bandit not to make the cake look like a clown cake she had before, which didn’t turn out well.
As they leave the house, Bingo asks Chilli how animals without tails know when they’re happy. Meanwhile, Bandit starts working on the cake, slicing the base, while Bluey pops in to offer her help. She decides to clean up the block city, hoping to earn some stickers, and gets a star with frosting as a reward. Bandit has a mishap with the cake, cutting it too roughly, but decides to make the most of it. Bluey shows him her progress, and then gets distracted by the frosting on her star, licking it off and asking Bandit to clean up the rest. Bandit tries to motivate her to finish cleaning by offering two dollarbucks, which excites Bluey, but she soon learns that the star pony she wants costs much more.
As Bluey finishes cleaning, Bandit puts the icing on the cake, and Bluey asks about buying a star pony with her dollarbucks. Bandit has to break the news that it’s not possible, but offers her a consolation prize: licking the beater. After she’s done, Bandit tries to attach the duck’s head to the cake, but it falls off, leaving him stressed and defeated. Bluey decides to take matters into her own hands, cleaning up the mess and suggesting a creative solution to fix the cake. With renewed energy, Bandit and Bluey work together, and soon Chilli and Bingo return home to find the block city cleaned up and the iconic duck cake ready. Bingo loves the cake, and Bluey is happy to have helped, even if it was just by cleaning up the mess.
