The episode kicks off with Bluey and Bingo playing with a projector screen in the back garden. Before long, Lucky’s family arrives, with Pat and Lucky sporting maroon shirts. Bandit makes a grand entrance, having dyed his blue fur maroon, and he’s joined by Lucky and Pat in cheering for the Maroons. Pat asks where Chilli is, and it’s mentioned that she’s at the game with Frisky and Trixie.
As the game is about to start, Janelle declares “WE’RE GONNA FLOG YA!” to the Heelers and Labradors, prompting Bandit and Pat to boo her. However, Chucky scolds his dad for booing at his mum. The game begins, and Bingo waits in front of the screen for Chilli to appear. Bluey tells Chucky she’s on the maroon team, despite being blue herself, and Chucky reveals he’s gold, though there isn’t a gold team. The maroon team scores, and Bandit and Pat celebrate, but their joy is short-lived as the try is invalidated due to an obstruction. Janelle calls the maroons “a bunch of cheats!” and later hugs Chucky tightly when the blue team scores.
As the match goes into half-time, the families order pizzas and come together. Chucky is asked to choose which team to support and reluctantly decides to back the maroons, disappointing Janelle. The game ends with the maroons winning, and everyone except Janelle and the sleeping Bingo is cheering. Janelle sadly turns off her TV and goes to bed, crushed, as Bingo wakes up just as Chilli, Trixie, and Frisky appear on the screen, waving. Bingo, now happy she’s seen her mum, cousin, and fairy godmother on the screen, waves back at them before drifting off again.
The next day, the families gather at the Heeler house to support the Gold team, but Mackenzie’s family is backing the team in black. The Border Collies arrive, and the Heelers and Labradors proclaim “We’re gonna flog ya!” The episode wraps up with the gold team scoring a try and Chucky’s parents hugging him.
